Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 07/14/2017

Receipts: 963      Two Weeks ago: 773          Year ago: 600

There has been no real good comparison on feeders, especially yearlings for
several weeks with the bulk of Friday's sale weighing 600-850 lbs.  Several lots
and packages of good black yearlings sold with very good demand on a light to
moderate supply all selling with a sharply higher undertone.  Feeder calves
under 600 lbs were very lightly tested but sold with good demand on a higher
undertone.  A light test of slaughter cows sold steady.  CME cattle futures
surprised many this week with sharp gains in the middle of July along with a
higher fed cattle trade this week, mostly 2.00 higher at 120.00 help give
support to the market.  Slaughter cows accounted for near 10 percent of the
total receipts.  Feeder supply consisted of 60 percent steers and bulls, 40
percent heifers and 65 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
