Feeder Cattle and Cow Auction Report for 8/18/2017
Receipts: 717 Week Ago: 1376 Last Year: 662
Regular monthly cow special with too few feeder cattle for a test.
Several bred cows mostly in the third period along with a few pairs
made up most of the afternoon offering. Slaughter cows traded
1.00-2.00 lower. Cash cattle prices this week have been under pressure
as Boxed Beef prices and cattle futures have moved sharply lower.
Cows accounted for 70 percent of the receipts with 30 percent feeders.
In the feeder supply steers and bulls accounted for 55 percent,
45 percent heifers, and near 55 percent weighed over 600 lbs.
Feeder Steers: Medium and Large 1 Few 500-550 lbs 163.00-181.00.
Medium and Large 1-2 Few 600-650 lbs 140.00-145.50; Fleshy 798 lbs
128.75.
Feeder Heifers: Medium and Large 1 Pkg 462 lbs 150.00. Medium and
Large 1-2 500-550 lbs 135.00-140.00; Few 600-700 lbs 130.00-132.50.
Medium 1-2 Pkg 360 lbs 160.00; Pkg 453 lbs 142.00.
Feeder Bulls: Medium and Large 1-2 550-600 lbs 146.50-148.00.
