Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 9/22/2017
Receipts: 1169 Week ago: 839 Year ago: 521
Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers weighing 500-850 lbs and heifers
under 600 lbs all sold with a steady to firm undertone with 750-800 lb yearling
steers selling steady to 4.00 higher. Demand was good with supply moderate on
mostly feeders weighing 500-800 lbs. Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly 2.00-
5.00 lower. Friday's Cattle on Feed Report was somewhat bearish with
replacements much higher than anticipated at 102.6 percent with expectations at
97 percent; on feed numbers came in at 103.6 percent with expectations at 102.7
and Marketings in line at 106 percent. Slaughter cows accounted for near 12
percent of the total receipts. Feeder supply consisted of 53 percent steers and
bulls, 47 percent heifers and 51 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
