Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 09/14/2018
Receipts: 1075 Week ago: 581 Year ago: 839
No recent price trend with light receipts over the past several
weeks, but all classes of feeder cattle traded with a higher undertone.
Slaughter cows sold steady with last week. Demand was good with supply
moderate. Good demand on light weight steers calves under 500 lbs and 2
pot loads of big yearlings weighing 975-990 lbs. CME cattle futures this
week closed with sharp triple-digit gains on Friday as Wednesday's crop
report was for record yields for corn and soybeans, with corn coming in
at 181.3 bu/ac and soybeans 52.8 bu/ac. Slaughter cows accounted for 15
percent of the total receipts. Feeder supply consisted of 68 percent
steers, 32 percent heifers and near 55 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
