EMCC Special Cow Sale Saturday Nov 26 th

No market reporter available for this Saturday cow sale, however a large crowd was on hand as we sold around 850 head. About 300 of those were old or cull cows that went to the packers and most of the others were young and bred that went to new homes at the end of the day. The consignments for this annual Fall cow sale in hind sight were offered in smaller quantities but very high quality compared to past years. I would mentioned a few highlights; Two small packages of first calf heifer pairs at $1900, spring calving heifers mostly from $1100 to $1425 with a few packages of second calf heifers at $1500 to $1600. The bulk of good young cows of various ages in second and third stage of pregnancy sold from $1050 to $1450 with several fancy large frame cows up to $1600. Prices were good but certainly contained due to many local buyers apprehensive to expand or aggressive replace cows due to limited fall grass and hay supply tightness.
