Compared to two weeks ago, best test on steer calves weighing 500-600
lbs sold 6.00-10.00 lower, with 600-700 steer calves selling mostly 5.00
lower and yearlings scarce.  Feeder heifers weighing 450-600 lbs sold
2.00-5.00 lower with weights over 600 lbs lightly tested.  Slaughter cows
traded 2.00-4.00 lower.  Demand was moderate on a moderate supply of
mostly calves weighing 450-700 lbs.  Winter arrived early with 2-3 inches
of snow overnight to go along with already very muddy conditions did not
help demand.   Many offerings of small packages of calves’ unweaned,
short weaned and carrying flesh were met with caution from buyers this
week as weather conditions, struggling CME cattle futures for going on
two weeks along with the fed cattle market trading lower this week not
helping the market.  Slaughter cows accounted for near 21 percent of the
total receipts.  Feeder cattle consisted of 40 percent steers, 11 percent
bulls, 49 percent heifers and 29 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
