Friday's auction was a Special Bred Cow-Heifer sale with a very light test of
feeder cattle. The best test of feeders was on the 400-600 lb steer and heifer
calves selling mostly steady on comparable sales with yearlings scarce. The
feeder offing was made up of mostly small packages and singles many unweaned and
fleshy selling with moderate demand. Slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 lower
with high dressing cows trading steady. Slaughter cows, bred cows and heifers
made up 56 percent of the total receipts. Feeder cattle consisted of 33 percent
steers, 22 percent bulls and 45 percent heifers with near 27 percent weighing
ver 600 lbs.
