Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 10/05/12

Receipts:  825    Week ago:  1405   Year ago: not avail.                

   Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves weighing 400-550 lbs on a
light test sold near steady to 3.00 lower, with 550-600 lb steer calves selling
5.00-8.00 lower on a light test.  Feeders over 600 lbs were not well tested with
last week's larger receipts.  Feeder supply consisted of mostly small packages
and bunches of calves weighing between 400-550 lbs with several un-weaned and
carrying flesh.  Over-night rains and falling temperatures had receipts and
orders backing off some as demand was moderate to good on calves.  Feeder supply
consisted of 46 percent steers and bulls, 54 percent heifers and near 47 percent
weighing over 600 lbs.  Slaughter cows accounted for near 28 percent of the
total receipts.  Slaughter cows sold fully steady to 1.00 higher.   

   Feeder Steers: Medium and Large 1 pkg fleshy 385 lbs 170.00; 400-500 lbs
170.00-178.00; 500-525 lbs few 165.00-176.00, 550-600 lbs 148.00-155.00; 600-700
lbs few 140.50-148.50; pkg fleshy 725 lbs 125.25.  Medium and Large 1-2  300-350
lbs 176.00-183.00, lot thin 385 lbs 182.50; lot fleshy 470 lbs 150.50; lot thin
